Few Words From Radika: Hello All, I saw the openings about RBS on SteStuff blog with the title “Openings for Software Test Engineers at RBS(Royal Bank of Scotland)-Posted 16th Mar,09” and some other sources and applied to the manpower consultancy mail id provided there.
Got call from them recently and finally attended the first round interview at RBS Gurgaon office which is there in DLF Phase 3. I’m very happy that i completed it successfully and want to say thanks to the team behind this SteStuff.com site. Here are some of the questions i faced and remembered.
Questions:
- What is 80/20 rule in software testing?
- At what stage in the sdlc testing should be started?
- What HLD and LLD’s in Design phase of SDLC?
- Which bug tracking tool your company uses and why?
- Can we Test a Web Application without using automation tools?
- What a test engineer should be capable of in your words?
- Rate yourself in QTP between 1 to 10?
- What is Object Repository and how many types?
- How to add a Synchronization point while Recording?
Answers: (By SteStuff Team)
- 80/20 rule explained with examples
- Testing starts from starting stage of the SDLC model. Thats the reason everyone is using V-Model as their SDLC models now.
- HLD is High Level Design, which means writing up the scenarios from FRS and SRS. LLD is Low Level Design, which means writing up the test cases my making use of those scenarios from HLD.
- We use Mantis tool, which is a freeware tool. Bug tracking is required to every organization to track and Report the reports to clients.
- No, its not possible. Because we can check the functionality manually but we can’t test the performance of a web based application manually. We need to use load runner kind of tools for sure.
- A test engineer should be in capable of thinking in negative way. Negative testing makes you find lots of bugs in software’s. So test engineer should be able to think in positive and negative manners.
- My answer was 7
- Check it here: Knowing Object Repository!
- Check it here: Add sync point while recording
You may try your luck by sending resume to Naved.Furqan@manpower.co.in. Thanks to Radika for sending all this information. Lets pray for her selection there….
