One of our reader (Raju), who read the post “Walkin Interview for Testers on 07-MAR-2009 at iSoft Chennai” at our jobs section and attended the interview at Isoft today.He sent the Questions asked in the Interview and he want to share those with all of you.
According to Raju, As its an open walkin there was a huge crowd at the office by 10am. After long waiting period he got the chance to attend the interview.
There were 2 people sitting in room and waiting for the candidate to come in. They introduced themselves as some X and Y and started the interview.
Questions:
- Tell something abut your experience (Not about yourself
they want only your exp details) - Why do we need to Test software’s?
- Manual or Automation which is best? and what is the difference between them?
- QTP stands for?
- What is difference between Local and Shared object repositories?
- Extensions for Local and Shared object repositories?
- If i want you to test an Application with in 1 day, how do you approach the testing?
- Is that possible to use black box testing techniques in early stage of testing?
- Keyboard shortcut to Run a test in QTP?
- What is Synchronization Point in QTP?
- What is the difference between Test Plan and Test Strategy?
- Which kind of role you will be able to play in the team?
Answers:
- Don’t start from your name and so and so information about you. Just tell them about your experience like your organization, years of exp and areas involved and etc…
- To ensure that the Product/application is working fine before it get released into the out side market. Business depends on the quality of software you develop for your clients
- Manual is important to do at least once in the testing Life Cycle. Automation comes when the testing is in Regression phase.
- Quick Test Professional
- Local Object Repository is only accessible to that test and not for the other test in the batch. Shared object repository can be used by other tests in the suite/batch.
- Extension for Local object repository is: .MTR (Mercury Test Repository) Extension for Shared object repository is: .TSR (Test Script Resource)
- First divide your application functionalities into primary and secondary. First test the primary functionality in the application. If the time permits then go for secondary functionalities.
- Usually we will do black box testing once the unit and Integration testings are done. But you can do black box at the early stage also. All that depends on your application and organization.
- Shortcut to Run a test in QTP is: F5
- Read “Understanding Synchronization Points in QTP”
- Read “Permanent Link to What is the difference between Test Strategy and Test Plan?”
