Job Description:

Defines, delivers and implements the Test Strategy; oversees all test activities; manages test related issues; co-ordinates test activities with other workstreams.

• Defines, delivers and implements overall Test Strategy

• Defines Test and Fault Management Procedures

• Ensures that the Test process is properly co-ordinated with Project Planning, Development, unit Test, Configuration Management, Training Release and other dependent processes; defines and implements Test Strategy matrix

• Selects /Leads /coaches Test team and advises wider project team on Testing

• Manages impact of Changes on the testing process

• Plans, monitors, analyses and reports upon the progress of the Testing process

• Considers non-functional requirements (e.g. performance, security, resilience, archiving, usability)

• Negotiates the resolution of conflicts with other workstreams

• Produces of End of Test Phase Report(s), advises on risk mitigation and the fitness of the software for delivery

• Expertise in the Testing lifecycle, and understanding of the full project lifecycle

• Thorough understanding of the issues and impacts affecting Testing and broad awareness of technology

• Familiar with a range of testing methodologies and approaches (e.g. Risk-based, V-Model, Waterfall, iterative, agile, T-MAP, RUP)

• Familiarity with Rightshore-style approaches to delivery; understanding strengths/weaknesses/pitfalls

• Familiar with and able to provide recommendations on a range of relevant standards (ISO, BSI, IEEE, CMMi ), testing tools (Test Management, Requirements Management, Functional Automation, Performance, CAST, Defect Management…) and tool manufacturers (e.g. Rational, HP, QA, )

• Formal certification in software testing at a higher level, by a recognised body (e.g. ISTQB, ISEB Practitioner)
