After you run your Test, you can view the Results in the TEST RESULTS window. By default, the TEST RESULTS window appears after a run session completes.

To view test results:

From the QuickTest Professional menu bar, select AUTOMATION ? RESULTS. The TEST RESULTS window appears. View the outcome of the test run.

QuickTest Professional enables you to Compress the Test folder to conserve hard disk space on your computer and to ensure easy transfer of tests within a network or over the Internet.
To compress the test name folder:

From the QuickTest Professional menu bar, select FILE ? EXPORT TEST TO ZIP FILE.

When Saving a Test, you assign it a name. A test name directory is automatically created and all the files related to the test are saved in the test name directory.
By default, QuickTest creates certain files and directories in each test directory,including:

After you record a Test, you should save your tests at an appropriate location. If you use QuickTest Professional alone, QuickTest prompts you to save your tests in the …\MERCURY INTERACTIVE\QUICKTEST PROFESSIONAL\TESTS directory by default.

You can change it to your choice of location.But,keep track of the location for future purposes.

When you run a Test, QuickTest performs each step as it was recorded in the Application under test. The application under test should be Running when the test is running.

To run a Test and write the test Results in a temporary folder:

On the QuickTest Professional Toolbar, click RUN (AUTOMATION ? RUN).The RUN dialog box appears.
In the RUN dialog box, click the TEMPORARY RUN RESULTS FOLDER (OVERWRITES ANY EXISTING TEMPORARY RESULTS) option.

When you record a Test, it is recommended that you resize QuickTest Professional and the aut (Application Under Test) so that the applications are visible simultaneously. To record a test:
